Uveitis ocular toxoplasmosis

This is a retrospective study of 106 patients between March 2011 and June 2018, of 37 IgM +group and 69 IgM - group of patients. The clinical features, demographics of patients with ocular toxoplasmosis (OT) were studied according to the IgM status. IgM + group was older (51.1 vs. 34.1 years), with higher rates of central macular lesions (32% vs. 12%) and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) (11% vs. 1%). The IgM -group had higher proportion of patients presenting with pain (20% vs. 3%) and more severe anterior uveitis and vitritis. In both groups, retinal lesions were more common in the superotemporal quadrant (55%) and superonasal quadrant (31%); older age group was shown to have larger and more peripheral lesions. The authors concluded that further studies are required for multicentre prospective type and limitations of this study are its retrospective nature and relatively smaller numbers in the IgM +group.
