This is a retrospective, multicentre (11 centres) study of European patients (total 107; Caucasians in 93.4%). Age ranged between 11 and 76 years with mean age 42 ±15 years. Best corrected vision was >0.5logMAR in 80.3% of the eyes, and intraocular pressure (IOP) was >40mmHg in 44% of the eyes. Keratic precipitates (KPs) were found in 78.5% and no flare or cells in the anterior chamber were detected in 56% and 53% respectively. In polymerase chain reaction assessment of the aqueous sample in 81 patients for cytomegalovirus, DNA was positive in 50.6%. The authors concluded that PSS in non-Asian countries is typically a Caucasian male with low grade anterior uveitis, with KPs, preserved vision and marked raised IOP in this study.
