This study aimed to characterise the normative corneal epithelial thickness profile in healthy Turkish children using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT). This was a retrospective cross-sectional observational study of 86 healthy children aged 7–18 years aged 13.3 ±2.8 years. Mean spherical equivalent was -0.86 ±0.83D, and mean cyl of -0.68 ±0.39D (91.86% having with the rule astigmatism). There were 43 male and 43 female children. Mean central corneal thickness in the 2mm zone was 546 ±33μm. In the 5 and 6mm zones, highest values were in the superior quadrant and lowest temporally. Mean epithelial thickness in the 2mm zone was 53.7 ±4.6, increasing in the 5 and 6mm zones. Greater epithelial thicknesses were in inferior regions, and thinnest in superior quadrants. There were no significant differences for sex, age, spherical equivalent, or cyl for corneal thickness. Boys had significantly greater epithelial thickness in multiple regions. This study contributes to normative data on corneal epithelial thickness in healthy Turkish children which may be useful when considering paediatric corneal morphology.
