The purpose of this study was to use Rasch analysis to inform the refinement of the CAT-QoL amblyopia treatment questionnaire. Of the 342 subjects that were recruited across nine centres, 315 had sufficient clinical data for analysis with RUMM software. Subjects were aged four to eight years and 57% were male. Mean interocular difference was 0.20. Analysis led to a final eight-item questionnaire with 3-level response scale. Items include sad, feeling on face, hurt, doing work at school, how other children treat you, doing things, worried and playing with friends. Scores range from 0-16. This paper concludes that further research is warranted to examine the psychometric properties of reliability and validity.
