This study aimed to establish the relationship between age, horizontal heterophoria, horizontal vergences, positive / negative fusional vergence and vergence facilities. The study recruited 112 subjects aged 39.8 ±14.97 years (range 18-65) of which 54.5% were female. There were 49 non-presbyopes and 63 presbyopes. Age was significantly associated with distance negative and positive fusional vergence recovery, near prism fusional vergence blur, break and recover, and vergence facility. There was a significant different for variables across non and presbyopic groups. The results show increased exophoria and decreased positive fusional vergence and vergence facility with increasing age. The authors conclude comparison of binocular vision results should be made to appropriate normative age group values to aid greater diagnostic accuracy.
