Aciclovir AGEPHA replaces Zovirax eye ointment, which had been discontinued in 2018. Aciclovir eye ointment is the first line treatment for new and recurrent herpetic keratitis.
Aciclovir Agepha 30 mg/g is the only treatment approved for pregnant women and children.
It is a potent broad-spectrum antiviral agent with a long and stable shelf life. It is listed in the British National Formulary and is covered by the NHS Drug Tariff.
