Mainline Instruments is excited to share that the iCare DRSPlus Confocal Fundus Imaging System has received official approval from the NHS for use in the Diabetic Eye Screening (DES) Programme. This recognition follows a rigorous evaluation process, confirming that the DRSPlus meets the high clinical standards required for use in both public and private healthcare settings.
The iCare DRSplus is a cutting-edge retinal imaging system that uses confocal technology and white LED illumination to produce ultra-clear, TrueColor images of the eye. This level of clarity helps clinicians detect eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration with greater accuracy and ease.
Key features of the DRSplus include:
- High-quality, 45° retinal images, even through cataracts or other visual obstructions.
- Fully automated, fast operation requiring minimal staff training.
- Ability to capture images through pupils as small as 2.5mm without dilation, offering a more comfortable experience for patients.
- Automatic panoramic imaging up to 80° using the built-in Mosaic function.
- Optional remote viewer for reviewing images across any workstation on the same network.
This advanced system improves workflow, reduces screening time, and supports the use of AI for quicker, more precise diagnoses. Its ease of use and high-quality output make it an excellent solution for both clinicians and patients.
“We’re thrilled that the iCare DRSplus has been approved by the NHS,” said Jack Hawkins, Managing Director at Mainline Instruments. “This is a major step forward in our mission to provide innovative, reliable tools for eye care professionals.”
