Medicel, a leading producer of lens injection systems for the medical sector, has launched the world’s first 100% 2-in-1 lens injector, the ACCUJECT DUAL. The new injector enables surgeons to operate either in push or screw mode, allowing more control.
Unlike competitor dual-mode injectors on the market that are always 50% push and 50% screw, the ACCUJECT DUAL is able to switch from either 100% push to 100% screw at any time of the IOL-injection procedure.
The latest ACCUJECT injector has been ergonomically designed to mitigate usability issues commonly found with existing dual-mode injectors on the market. Surgeons who use dual-mode injectors with a finger flange for the push mode often find it impacts usability when operating the injector in screw mode. However, due to the moveable finger flange on the ACCUJECT DUAL, this issue is eliminated. The newest ACCUJECT addition is compatible with all previous ACCUJECT preloaded and non-preloaded systems and the hand-over position from the nurse to the surgeon is clearly identifiable in both operating modes.
Existing dual-mode Injectors on the market are a compromise. If you use an injector which has a finger flange for the push mode, the finger flange affects usability when using it in the screw mode. However, the ACCUJECT DUAL entirely eliminates usability issues and is fully compatible with all previous ACCUJECT preloaded and non-preloaded systems. While the hand-over position from the nurse to the surgeon is clearly identifiable in both operating modes.
The window in the tip of the injector enables the surgeon to have complete visual control of the IOL’s travel and due to a unique structured surface, the ACCUJECT DUAL won’t become slippery even when operating it with wet gloves.
Volker Dockhorn, CEO, Medicel said, “Medicel uses the best of Swiss engineering and applies it to medical surgery. Every fifth injector used globally is a Medicel injector. “The launch of the latest ACCUJECT injector generation, called ACCUJECT DUAL, is an exciting industry development and a true industry first.”
