Haag-Streit Academy are thrilled to announce the launch of a new agenda for their highly popular ‘Improving Outcomes’ Biometry courses. Designed by clinicians, for clinicians, these courses are now titled ‘Measurement Essentials’ and ‘Clinical Decisions & Management’ and are designed to help clinical staff bring their biometry skills to the next level.
The ‘Improving Outcomes Biometry: Measurement Essentials’ course focuses on measuring acquisition and being able to understand the results. It raises the importance of verifying that results are reliable as any errors will contribute to unexpected outcomes in cataract surgery. Common pitfalls that cause inaccuracies in measurements will be addressed, as well as the development of the skills to confidently identify and correct errors. The course is aimed at nurses, technicians, optometrists and other clinical staff who carry out biometry on a daily basis and are interested in developing and maintaining consistent good biometry practice.
The ‘Improving Outcomes Biometry: Clinical Decisions & Management’ course focuses on how biometry measurements can be used to guide clinical decision making. This includes evidence-based approaches to selecting the appropriate formulae, planning for more complex cataract cases, and approaches to problem solving with biometry when outcomes are not as predicted. The course is aimed at more advanced clinical staff who are involved with patient management.
Each day includes a mixture of interesting lectures delivered by industry experts, hands-on workshops on the Eyestar and Lenstar biometers, and collaborative case study discussions. Delegates will be able to claim 6.5 CPD points for their attendance on each day.
The next ‘Improving Outcomes’ Biometry courses are being held at Haag-Streit Academy HQ in Bishop’s Stortford on 26th and 27th September 2024. For more information or to book your place, visit https://hsuk.co/AcademyCourseBookings or email academy.uk@haag-streit.com.
