Dr Sohaib Rufai has been promoted to National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Academic Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology. Dr Rufai takes up the post this month at the University of Leicester Ulverscroft Eye Unit.

Dr Rufai’s current areas of interest are advanced ocular imaging and neuro-ophthalmology. He maintains collaborative partnerships with Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, and Oxford University Hospitals.

The prestigious NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship is designed to establish the award holder as an independent clinical researcher and leader. The Lectureship provides 50% protected academic time to lead post-doctoral level research and deliver high quality teaching. The Lectureship also provides travel funding and opportunities to secure further research grants.
