Bausch + Lomb were proud to sponsor the inaugural Clues from the Cutter meeting held at the Anglia Ruskin Medical School in Chelmsford in June. Noting that there was a lack of good, video-based discussion of retinal surgery techniques for vitreoretinal trainees and newly qualified Consultants within the UK calendar the organiser, Mr Aman Chandra (Southend), designed the meeting to meet the need. To aid delegates in reducing the requirement for study leave, the event was held on a Saturday

Drawing together a faculty of Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeons from the United Kingdom and beyond, the course programme covered the topics of Diabetic Vitrectomy, Proliferative Vitreoretinopathy, Schisis Retinal Detachment, Cryo/Buckle and Paediatrics, Aphakia, Dropped Lens, Trauma, Giant Retinal Tears, Endophthalmitis, Complications of Small Gauge Surgery and Future Vitrectomy Developments.

The delegates and faculty

Each topic was illustrated with presentations featuring case study videos, followed by an interactive question and answer session which allowed delegates to share best practice and gain a good understanding of each condition or technique. The course content was awarded the full 7 hours of CPD points by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Delegate feedback was excellent with all speakers receiving ≥ 95% ratings. 100% of delegates said they would attend the meeting again and Mr Chandra is already beginning to plan another in 2020 which will be advertised in due course.
