Damien Gatinel, head of the Anterior and Refractive Surgery Department of the Rothschild Foundation, Paris, and Amir Hamid, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, London addressed an audience at the Finevision event sponsored by BVI at No 11 Cavendish Square, London on 13 October 2023.

The focal point of their discussion was the latest iteration of the Finevision trifocal intraocular lens (IOL). Dr Gatinel, a key figure in the original Finevision development team, emphasized the simplicity and effectiveness of the optics design, which allows patients to embrace a trifocal visual experience with three points of focus.

Mr Hamid shared his experiences of using this advanced trifocal IOL for the past 18 months, highlighting the ease of implantation, precise toric placement, lens stability, and high level of patient satisfaction. This event drew 25 esteemed members from London and across the UK's refractive community, highlighting its importance.

Christian Oster, BVI told Eye News “Premium IOL surgery is a subspecialty in the cataract and refractive world and patient outcomes are tailored to each individual and subsequently vital. The importance of this was evident in the attention of the audience, glued to the scientific explanations and real-life experience of the speakers and the resulting questions and shared discussions afterwards. It was an absolute pleasure to host this event and we look forward to more as the appetite grows.”
