On the Saturday evening at the Scottish Optical Conference we are having a charity dinner dance with a short awards ceremony celebrating excellence in the optical industry. This replaces the previous FREE drinks reception and reflects on SOC providing 30 years of CPD provision in Scotland.

This event will be co-hosted by Vision Scotland and SOC. All of the Optical industry (Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians, Practice Support Staff, Speakers, Exhibitors, Partners and spouses) are invited to this FREE not for profit charity awards. Note; you do not need to be a SOC attendee to attend the awards. These awards will also be supported by all our stakeholders including OS, ABDO, GOC, FODO, AOP and BCLA. We have also invited Jenni Minto Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health to give a short welcoming speech on behalf of the Scottish Government.

All attendees will be invited to give a voluntary donation to a Sight Saving Fund we have set up so that patients who cannot afford treatment such as cataract or occuplastic or VR surgery can receive this at no charge on a case by case basis whether you are or are not a stakeholder with Vision Scotland.

The evening will consist of a drinks reception in the mezzanine foyer at 7.00 pm, followed by a bespoke dinner 7.30 – 9.00 pm, awards event 9.00 – 9.30 pm then our resident DJ and band from 9.30 – 11.30 pm carriages thereafter.

As an attendee of the dinner dance we we would ask you to also either think about nominating any friend or practice or industry company you feel should be considered for any for any of the awards but also why not consider self-nomination, either forms are acceptable. We want to recognise and promote excellence as this is what the ethos of our conference is all about. So go on nominate someone, yourself or just turn up. The winners will be announced on the night with an artist inspired trophy and presented by leading figures in the industry including CEOs/Chairs of our Stakeholder Supporting organisations. These awards will continue each year and will be Scotland’s Optical Oscars with the winners able to proudly display their awards as recognition of their commitment to excellence.

It promises to be a great night for all the profession with 180 delegates attending. Dress smart and bring your dancing shoes for our 80s/90s and 00s themed DJ session!
