Bolton North East MP Mark Logan visited SpaMedica’s new building, ‘The View’, which accommodates 180 company employees, including 40 recruited in the last year.
Bolton-based NHS eye health provider SpaMedica welcomed local MP Mark Logan for a tour of its new office space on Bark Street, where employees recently celebrated the company’s 15-year anniversary.
Launched in 2008, SpaMedica is one of the UK’s leading providers of NHS cataract surgery, and recently opened its 50th hospital in North Tyneside.
SpaMedica’s head office has been based on Churchgate in Bolton since 2017 and its continued growth has seen some teams re-locate to a new, state-of-the-art office space in the town centre.
Named ‘The View’ for its panoramas over the town and surrounding areas, SpaMedica’s new office – spread over two floors – houses 180 employees from the company’s contact centre, bookings, referrals, post-op and transport teams.
Nationally, SpaMedica has recruited over 480 employees since the start of 2023, and expects to take on up to 80 more by the end of the year.
As well as cataract removal, SpaMedica provides YAG capsulotomy and medical retina services to NHS patients. The company employs more than 1700 people nationwide.
Staff at The View gave MP Mark Logan a tour of their new office space, and provided an overview of the work they do in supporting patient care – including processing referrals, answering patients’ calls, booking appointments, and coordinating SpaMedica’s free patient transport service.
Mark also had the opportunity to meet members of SpaMedica’s Board and senior leadership team, including Medical Director Dr Alex Silvester, and Head of Hospital Services, Cliff Waddicor.
