Haag-Streit Academy has become renowned for its exceptional slit lamp courses, aimed at clinicians with a variety of slit lamp skills, whether they are complete beginners, or more advanced users of the equipment. Additionally, Haag-Streit Academy offers a Slit Lamp Skills Hub, which gives clinicians the chance to practice their slit lamp skills in a relaxed environment.
The Slit Lamp Basic Skills course features a talk covering the fundamentals of the slit lamp. The course also offers a live demo of how the slit lamp works, followed by more specialist examination techniques, including Goldmann applanation tonometry and fundoscopy principles. The Slit Lamp Advanced Skills course teaches the skills necessary to achieve superior results with the slit lamp, including identification of pathology, gonioscopy, and slit lamp imaging techniques. Many clinicians attend both days.
Both courses feature lectures presented by Ophthalmologist, Mr Sunil Mamtora, and hands-on workshops. The courses cost just £150 (ex VAT) per day, and attendees receive CPD points, supported by a certificate of attendance.
The Slit Lamp Skills Hub was recently created as a result of feedback received from the Academy courses – clinicians love having the opportunity to ‘play’ with the slit lamps; a luxury they rarely find time for in busy practices. So far, the Academy has hosted two successful Skills Hubs. Costing just £50 (ex VAT), the Skills Hub is a 4-hour session run by Haag-Streit Academy Product Managers. They are small group sessions, where attendees spend time practising with Haag-Streit slit lamps.
The Academy is offering their final Basic & Advanced Slit Lamp courses of the year on 2nd & 3rd October 2025 at HS-UK Academy HQ in Bishop’s Stortford, with the addition of a Slit Lamp Skills Hub taking place on 4th October. Anyone wishing to attend the Skills Hub should have some prior knowledge of the slit lamp. Those who are new to the slit lamp should attend the basic slit lamp course first to get an initial understanding of the equipment.
