To mark Glaucoma Awareness Week 2025, a parliamentary drop-in session was held on Wednesday, 2nd July at Portcullis House, Westminster. Hosted by Steve Darling MP and supported by Glaucoma UK and Glaukos UK, the event brought together parliamentarians, clinicians, and patient representatives to highlight the urgent need for improved glaucoma care in the UK.

The session focused on increasing awareness of the risk factors and prevalence of glaucoma. Attendees learned about the significant impact glaucoma has on individuals, the NHS, and wider social care systems. The event also showcased the vital work of Glaucoma UK in providing support and information to those affected, as well as Glaukos UK’s role in advancing innovative treatment options.
To improve outcomes for people with glaucoma, we are calling on the Government to take urgent steps to ensure the NHS Long Term Plan drives improvements in care pathways, supports earlier diagnosis, and guarantees equitable access to care across all communities.
