The theme of the Scottish Ophthalmological Club autumn meeting on 23 September is ‘Post COVID – The Best of Times and The Worst of Times', featuring eminent speakers on a range of topics.

President Prof Bal Dhillon welcomes delegates: “The September SOC theme ‘the best of times, the worst of times’ shines a light on key topics relevant to ophthalmologists in Scotland and beyond, which have emerged as priorities for sustaining service and training in the coming years. The speakers shall share experiences in the context of regional, national and international examples of ophthalmic practice during this virtual meeting, and we showcase our SOC prize-winning presentation alongside the e-poster ‘wall of fame’ accessible for SOC attendees to visit and enjoy. The first speaker will be winner of the overall e-poster prize of £250 from the SOC. Additional prizes have been kindly donated by sponsors Heidelberg Engineering, Haag-Streit Academy and Thea Pharmaceuticals Limited.

Emily Malbon, Head of UK Marketing and Education at Heidelberg, who will be supporting the Best Image-based category, said: “Heidelberg Engineering are delighted to be supporting the SOC virtual meeting with a competition prize. The prize consists of three high-quality OCT textbooks worth £258.00, including OCT Atlas, Glaucoma Imaging Atlas and Atlas of OCT.”

Grant Duncan, HS-UK Clinical Training Manager, commented: “Haag-Streit Academy is delighted to be able to support the SOC again with their exciting virtual meeting in September. We are pleased to be offering a voucher for a free place on any of the courses in the 2022 Haag-Streit Academy event calendar.” They will support the Best Systematic Review category.
