Optometrists have the opportunity to upskill and hear insights from world leading eye health experts, with free spaces still available at SpaMedica’s 2023 Optometry Conference, taking place in Bristol on Sunday 26 November.

SpaMedica – one of the UK’s foremost providers of NHS ophthalmology services – has brought together pre-eminent speakers who will cover the latest developments in optometry practice, spanning a range of sight-threatening conditions.

Delivering a keynote session entitled ‘Glaucoma, but not as you know it’ is multi-award-winning consultant ophthalmologist Dan Lindfield, who has twice been ranked amongst the world’s top 100 surgeons.

A second keynote will offer insights into complex cataract surgery, from international ophthalmic surgeon and founder of multi-disciplinary Harley Street Eye Clinic, Ahmed El-Amir.

Other topics explored will include preventative eyecare and retinal haemorrhages, with SpaMedica’s own eyecare specialists providing training alongside conference sponsors intraocular lens manufacturer Rayner, retinal imaging specialists Optos and Thea Pharma UK.

Clinical Director of Outpatients at SpaMedica, Professor Christine Purslow, said: “Our conference in Manchester last year was a huge success, so it’s great to be back for 2023 in Bristol, presenting expert speakers with a breadth of experience in eye health.

“With up to 12 CPD points on offer, we’re looking forward to welcoming professionals from far and wide, who are committed to furthering their knowledge and achieving the highest standards of patient care.”

Attendees will also be offered the opportunity to earn their post-operative accreditation with SpaMedica. The largest post-operative scheme in England allows accredited optometrists to bring SpaMedica patients back to the comfort of their practices for their post-surgery appointments.

The free-to-attend full day SpaMedica Optometry Conference will be held at The Bristol Pavilion on Sunday 26th November. To find out more, including the full list of speakers, and register to attend, click here.
