Optometry Today’s new essential guide for myopia management

15 June 2023 | optometry, myopia, myopia managament

Optometry Today (OT) has published the second edition of its myopia management guide, in partnership with headline sponsor, CooperVision, the Association of Optometrists (AOP) and Topcon Healthcare.

The Big Short. Your myopia guide is a printed and digital guide designed to support eyecare professionals in integrating myopia management within patient care.

The guide will educate optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians on key topics for their practice including the myopia management journey, effective patient communication tips, complaint mitigation advice and insight into the patient experience.

Selina Powell, OT’s features editor, said: “With the prevalence of myopia in children doubling in the last 50 years, there has been increased interest in clinical practice on effective myopia management strategies. This guide has been designed to educate and engage eyecare professionals on the intervention options while providing practical advice on the best communications techniques for building awareness with patients and their families.”

In the supplement, practitioners will find guidance on the best ways to handle common queries about myopia, how using myopia management techniques may impact their daily practice and professional predictions on the future of myopia management.

CooperVision’s Head of Professional Affairs UK & Ireland, Christina Olner, said: “CooperVision is passionate about empowering eyecare professionals to change the trajectory of childhood myopia. This latest version of the myopia guide contains updated insight and knowledge from across the optical industry which we hope eyecare professionals will find practical and helpful.”

The 20-page supplement will be issued alongside the June / July edition of OT, landing on 10 June. To access the guide online, visit: The Big Short. Your myopia guide.
