Optegra continues to strengthen its commitment to clinical excellence and community partnership by announcing a series of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events throughout 2026, open to any health care professionals in optometry.

Taking place across a range of dates and locations (from Newcastle and Preston, to Hampshire and Brighton), these multi-format events provide a constant form of interaction and dialogue between professionals within the optometry community. As well as providing essential CPD points, accredited through the General Optical Council (GOC).

Optegra’s CPD events are hugely collaborative between a range of departments to ensure the highest quality content. Topics to be covered in this year’s calendar of events include lectures and workshops on:

  • What’s new in AMD?
  • Foreign body removal
  • Drop-free cataract surgery
  • What’s new in glaucoma?
  • Corneal topography and tomography
  • OCT unlocked – practical applications and latest developments

Professor Clare O’Donnell, Head of Optometry and Optegra Eye Sciences, said: “We are fortunate to have leading ophthalmic surgeons within Optegra who are always willing to share their expertise and work closely with optometrists to raise standards and ultimately help provide the best possible treatment for patients.”

Using a variety of formats including webinars (to offer convenience for those unable to attend in person), face-to-face workshops and peer reviews, these CPD events have proved to be very popular in previous years. In fact, one webinar focusing on dry eye and menopause proved particularly popular and registered over 1,000 delegates, a new milestone for Optegra.

Each face-to-face event typically awards between three and five CPD points, while attendance at lecture webinars awards one.  In the past year, Optegra supported over 1,300 optometrists around the UK with over 12 interactive webinars as well as 65 face-to-face events at its regional clinics and hospitals.
