The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers is pleased to announce that Ollie Finn has succeeded Helen Perkins as Clerk, becoming the 25th known Clerk of the Company. Ollie previously worked for two years as Clerk to the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, another Livery company based in the City of London. He has also had roles in Charity governance.
The Company looks forward to working with Ollie as he takes up the role and continues the strong tradition of service and stewardship on which the Company prides itself.
Ollie said about his appointment that: “The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers is widely known for its friendly members and its strong sense of community and camaraderie. I can certainly vouch for the truth of this. It is my great honour to be admitted as the 25th known Clerk to the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.”

Ollie is succeeding from Helen Perkins, who retired last week after ten years of service as the Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle makers, having held the position since June 2015.
It is with both gratitude and warm appreciation that the Company marks Helen’s retirement, bringing to a close a decade of distinguished service characterised by professionalism, integrity and a deep commitment to the life and work of the Company.
Under her stewardship, the Company further enhanced its reputation within the City as a welcoming and inclusive Livery Company. Helen was instrumental in broadening the Company’s external connections and guiding it through significant organisational transitions, including the move away from education and training activity and the development of a stronger corporate support base.
Helen’s commitment and standing have been recognised well beyond the Company. Her recent Honorary Fellowship of the College of Optometrists is a fitting reflection of the high regard in which she is held across the profession.
The Master, Fiona Anderson, paid tribute to Helen’s contribution, noting that: “The Company is regarded within the City as highly welcoming and inclusive, in no small part thanks to her dedication. Her work to strengthen our governance, broaden our connections and support the Court and Masters through their years of office has had a lasting effect.” She further observed that: “the benefits of the changes overseen during Helen’s tenure will continue to be felt for years to come.”
