Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard diagnostic and surgical devices and instruments for ophthalmologists, optometrists, and orthoptists, is delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2023’.

The competition gives eyecare professionals across the globe an opportunity to showcase their slit-lamp imaging skills. Judging criteria will include image quality, technical execution, and disease interest.

Haag-Streit is offering a host of fantastic prizes for the first three places. In addition to receiving the highly coveted ‘Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2023' trophy, the competition winner will also be featured in an ophthalmic journal and receive a Nikon Z 6 II with NIKKOR Z 24-120 mm F/4 (and NIKKOR 26mm f/2.8 lenses). 2nd prize will be an Apple Watch Ultra, and 3rd prize is an Ona Brixton leather camera bag.

 

 

Haag-Streit slit-lamps are renowned for their optical brilliance and can capture the most stunning clinical images. Last year’s winner was Utpal Sarkar from Disha Eye Hospitals Barrackpore in Kolkata, India. His winning image, taken with a Haag-Streit BX 900 slit-lamp imaging system, showed a case of Spherophakia and convinced on all three winning criteria, i.e., image quality, technical execution, and disease interest. 2nd place was awarded to Rob Hancock from Wirral University Teaching Hospitals in Wirral, UK, and 3rd place to Kathleen Warren from Duke Eye Center, Durham, NC, USA.

The competition has now run for four consecutive years with great success. Last year's competition saw 168 images submitted by participants from 20 countries, with many pearls among the submissions.
