Donation to VCHP marks start of new partnership

30 September 2024 | charity, donations, homeless, Vision Care for Homeless People, The Body Doctor, UK, optometry

Yorkshire eyecare company, The Body Doctor Ltd, has made a generous donation to Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) to help the charity improve eye health in the West Yorkshire region.

VCHP operates from 10 static clinics across the UK and has undertaken a one-year domiciliary pilot project aiming to extend the model of ‘Taking eye care to people affected by homelessness where they are.’ Working with two teams of Specsavers domiciliary contractors, the project is providing a free eyecare service in hostels and centres across East and West Yorkshire.

Co-Founder of The Body Doctor Ltd, Sam Wymer, was proud to hand over a product donation worth £2,500, consisting of 120 bottles of The Eye Doctor Hypochlorous Eyelid Cleansing Spray and 120 bottles of The Eye Doctor Intensive Relief Eye Drops. The products are designed to offer relief from common eye conditions, such as dry eye, providing much-needed care to those who do not have regular access to eye health services.

VCHP Project Manager, Tony Wing, thanking the Co-Founder of The Body Doctor Ltd, Sam Wymer, for the recent donation.

“We’re committed to supporting this service for the benefit of our local community,” Sam emphasised, adding, “Eye health is often overlooked, especially for vulnerable individuals, and we’re thrilled to offer products that will make a real difference.”

VCHP Project Manager, Tony Wing, a locum dispensing optician, said: “This support from The Body Doctor allows us to extend our services further, ensuring that more people can receive essential eyecare treatment.

“Access to proper eye health services is a challenge for many of the people we work with and this donation will go a long way in providing relief to those most at need.”

The donation marks the start of a long-term partnership between The Body Doctor Ltd and VCHP, with both organisations committed to improving the wellbeing of homeless  people who are often underserved, especially in healthcare.
