The College of Optometrists has published the CPD course – 'Part 2 – Diving deeper into myopia management' – which follows 'Part 1– Myopia management essentials' in the myopia series. This online learning course will help members enhance their clinical expertise in myopia management.
The second instalment in the series dives deeper into myopia management is designed for optometrists looking to advance their understanding of myopia management. Through three patient case studies and a range of interactive activities, the course supports your learning on evaluating myopia control interventions, managing complex cases, and assessing treatment effectiveness.
Qualified College members can earn one non-interactive CPD point upon competition of the course. The course supports the General Optical Council’s domains of Communication and Clinical Practice.
Dr Paramdeep Bilkhu, clinical advisor at The College of Optometrists, said: “Part one of our Myopia Management Essentials course has been extremely popular with members, and the second course provides an opportunity for clinicians to further build on their knowledge and expertise in this area of practice. With over three million children in the UK forecast to develop myopia by the age of 18*, myopia can have significant long-term impact on children’s eye health and development. Optometrists have the clinical expertise to diagnose and manage myopia through appropriate refractive correction, and the public health knowledge to advise families about evidence-based ways to reduce the risk of onset and progression.”
The College now offers 49 CPD points to qualified members through its professional learning and development platform. Further courses will continue to be added to the platform throughout the remainder of the current CPD cycle.
