The full education programme for 100% Optical – the UK’s largest optical trade show – opens for bookings this week, delivered by the Association of Optometrists (AOP) as the event’s official education partner.

The three-day event will take place from 24-26 February 2024, offering delegates access to an extensive CPD programme of lectures and workshops, specialist advice and networking opportunities with eye care professionals across the sector.

Programme highlights include:

  • The AOP Lounge which offers AOP members exclusive access to a suite of education in partnership with CooperVision, Johnson & Johnson and Optos.
  • The Main stage with lectures and discussions from sector experts such as, Mario Giardini from the University of Strathclyde, on the impact of digital technologies in shifting tasks from secondary care to the community and Tim Cole from Heidelberg Engineering UK on artificial intelligence.
  • Future Practice Hubs with workshops and peer review sessions, featuring nine CPD sessions sponsored by Alcon at the contact lens hub.

Dr Ian Beasley, AOP Head of Education, said: “100% Optical offers delegates over 120 CPD sessions across all modes of practice to fit a range of training needs. With the CPD cycle entering its third and final year, attendees will have an early opportunity to meet the GOC’s requirements and maximise networking prospects which could benefit their careers.

“The AOP’s in-house experts will also be available to provide support and advice for members on areas such as career development, financial planning, and legal matters.”

Bookings for the education sessions opened exclusively for AOP members on 3 January, with sessions available to all registered visitors on 12 January.

Further capacity will be released in February, with additional spaces reserved for walk-ins on a first-come first-served basis to accommodate the high demand for bookings the event has secured.
